Increase your chance of finding a Rare (Everquest 2 walkthrough)
July 22nd, 2008It seems that right as a new instance of a zone comes up the chances of finding a rare in one of the nodes that has never yet been harvested in this new instance is greatly increased. My guildie has tested this now several times and found it to be true. He explains it saying that the when a new instance comes up all the nodes are brand new and 'reset'
Anyway, when a instance hits 100 poeple a instance is created. So right around 6:00-8:00 PM everyone is getting home from work, you can bet a new instance will be forming. If you are there as it forms, sprint as fast as you can to your favorite harvesting spot of the zone and greedy grab every node you can find.
For example, a while back a guildie and me were working on the PGT's skindancer part. He /who'd the zone and found like 98 poeple in it so he said wait for a new instance. As soon as the zone opened I ran straight for the PGT quest starter but my guildie stopped to gather casually the nodes in the riverbed on the way. In just a few minutes, by the time we reached the giants, he gathered no less than TWO steel clusters and a severed fir and linked them all to me.
He told me later he manage to get another rare on the way out.
Anyway, my guildies swears that this is not just luck and that he has found it to be true many times.
I thought that this might be of some use to the members of the forum and went ahead and posted it even thought I cannot confirm this 100%.
DoF General Info and Flying carpet walkthrough (Buy EQ2 Gold)
July 20th, 2008Cross posted from a thread i found on the eqiiforums. I think it is VERY useful, especially the flying carpet quest walkthrough.
Here is a post of info ive been putting together for my guild figured id share with ppl
To get to Sinking Sands you take a Flying Carpet ride from either EFP or Qeynos Harbor
FACTION
For now there are 3 major factions in Maj'Dul (afaik at least):
*
Court of Blades
*
Court of Truth
*
Court of Coin
When you arrive in Sinking Sands (the first zone in DoF), there are 3 camps, one for each of the faction. Each camp is giving away quests that will raise your faction when you complete them. When you start working for one of the factions, the other 2 won't give you any quest anymore and will start to really hate you.
When you attain a kindly status with your chosen faction, you can enter their house in Maj'Dul, in the house you'll find more quests, a banker, a mender, FP and Qeynos fences…
To be able to enter the house of your faction, though, you need to travel in the city where 2 factions now hate you and will kill you on sight. This make things exciting as you have to be careful, watch for patrolling guards and all.
Finally we have some real faction system other than some guard yelling at you and forcing you to zone out.
***Controlling the towers is rumored to summon a X4 raid mob — not been on test long enough to see this yet thow
Common perks:
At Kindly you gain access to the court's palace. Inside each palace is:
Mender
Merchant, better buy/sell prices than out in the city. Also you can sell your status corpse loot (ie. Gel Sealed Document, Feysteel Relic, etc.) to this NPC.
Banker
Freeport Broker
Qeynos Broker
Story arc quest NPCs.
Items sold on the faction bursar:
Kindly:
one room residency license*

Ally:
three room residency license*

Advanced tradeskill recipes (Outfitters, Scholars, and Craftsmen)
*This is a one time license that is good even if you fall out of favor with the faction you bought it from and join another.
Unique perks sold on the court's bursar:
Perk with faction: Blades Truth Coin
Kindly:
Arena Champion Luresong Harbinger Tempest

The Sinking Sands
At the docks are the camps for the 3 factions. The first guy you see will give you some very basic information on the faction and the city.
There is a carpet at the docks as well that will fly you over to the city.
To the right from the docks, is another small emcampment with some more quest, and the crock caves.
The Crock cave i orginaly though would just be a small cave system that many of the out door zone in the currenet live game have. The reality is that crock cave are a huge expansive dungeoun that probably goes the leath of the zone under near the sinking sands. Its also NOT a small cave like the ones where used to. It really wide and has a high celling.
To the left of the docks there are some scatered islands with mostly solo and group mobs. Most of the islands have climbable walls, climbing the wall will break and end the enouncter if you where fighting.
Climbing takes to specail buttons, pushing your normal walking button will make you go up, and your normal walking backward button will make you go down.
Straight from the dock (well a little to the left) Is the oasis of marr. and the main path up to the zone. When you get up past the clift to the main part of the zone it pretty much opens up to you. (before you get up there most of the zone from the docks has clift that you can't get up). There are a few oasis and camps out in the deserts. You can export most of the zone with out dieing if your careful.
There where a lot of contested raid mobs up when i did a quick pass (i think 3 or 4), Some of the Orc look like they had kinda like mohak type hair, and the Gnoll looked like they where out of egpyt.
There is a small island to the left of the docks if u run around the beach of it u will see a bottle u can rub and summon a Gennie to talk to he teleports u to a SOLO instance. You go thru a few small fights similar to Sp solo arean and win a realy nice item at end. Like a 10 int 50 powr ring, 10-12 wis 50 power bracer and similar str/agi item. sarry i dont remeber the exact stats
MAP of Maj'Dulz
http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/boa…message.id=5041
Maj'Dul
The City, its a busy city.
There are several towers in the city that each faction can control. The inside of the tower have 10-20 floors it seem, of that faction gaurds. Doing a quest from another facttion to kill the gaurd of another tower will make that faction guard spawn in the tower and in the area around the city. (The more tower you faction own the more of your gaurd there are around the city, and the safer the city is for you).
There are slums in teh city (in that map they tend to be the darkcolor shapes), this is where most of the theifs are, And the only few place where a nertural person might get aggro (i counted 2 or 3 people in the entier city that where aggro to me). Most of the building here have something you can climb to walk on the top of the building and get from build to build as well.
There is a big building with grass around it, This is the barter house, there some quest giver here and all thet tradeskill books as well
The big building in the middle of the zone is the arena.

Few sites i saw with lots of cool pics

How to Plvl in EQ2 (Everquest 2 Bots)
July 15th, 2008Ok its quite simple since combat update, and if you refer to EQ1 its almost the same in some ways…
The person who is getting powerleveld ALWAYs has to pull the mob.(take off group locking). Right when the person who is getting the Plvl have a Tank tuant the mob off him.
Have a tank outside the group continusouly taunt the mob, and have the group do the dmg. When the mob is at 49%, the tank may attack the mob and the group will recive full XP and loot. ( great to farm lower lvl items)
Another way is have the group pull the mob and have a healer outside the group just heal them and works the same way.
Client Only Big head Mode (Eq2 stratics)
July 12th, 2008To make everyone on your computer have a huge head type the command /cutemode
Note: There is no game benifit for having this on cept entertainment
Maj'Dul Faction by Token (Eq2 scholar)
July 10th, 2008For those wanting to jack up quickly via tokens, instead of killing, the following levels of faction are gained by number of tokens. This presumes you're starting on your first faction.
[10] Threatening
[30] Dubious
[70] Apprehensive
[110] Indifferent
[180] Amiable
[220] Kind (instanced Court access)
[260] Warm
[300] Ally (house pets available)
How to custom eq2 music (mp3's) (Everquest 2 Tradeskill)
July 7th, 2008I recently found out that you can have custom mp3's instead of the boring old eq2 music, you can have custom songs for battles, zones, while your loading, while the game loads, etc…
i think this is badass because i can have like 5-6 different heavy metal songs for the game to choose from when i press attack, and i dont have to hear their annoying music anymore… i can have some cool techno for some zones, some rock for others… etc..
in your everquest ii directory there is a folder called /music, go in there and you will see all kinds of files, take a look at em.
in there there will be a /combat folder, go in there and you will see a bunch of files like Combat_Attack-Really Big 40s Lva.mp3 and so on, those files are random battle music, change them to whatever mp3's you want, but make sure to rename your custom mp3 to the name of the file you are replacing.
you can do the same for /zones, also like the loading music or the music when you logon.
the bad thing is that eq2patcher will see that your files are a different size, and will redownload them, so what i do is make a identical coppy of the /music folder after i am done with it, put the copy somewhere else, and from then on load the game through everquest2.exe instead of eq2.exe
when you have to patch run the patcher, then copy your custom music folder over the one that eq2 redownloaded after it patched.
ps. you can actually turn the game on, and alt tab to your desktop, and switch files like that, eq2 will automatically play your new file instead of the one it was playing.
this takes a little bit of time, but is much nicer than the same mind numbing crap over and over again… trance sounds so much better in RunnyEye than that crap they loop over and over in there…
Expand your Storage abilities crafting fans! (Eq2 guide)
July 5th, 2008Been crafting all night and nowhere to put all that Merchant fodder? You are in luck friend! I have just the solution for you! Increase your storage by 392 slots! That right I said 392 SLOTS!!!
NO WAY!!!!…… YES WAY FRIEND and let me tell you how!
Simply create an alternate toon (that's a character you don't plan on playing son, keep up) and move over 14 Pristine Sandalwood Strongbox's thru the shared banking system and there you have it (8 bank box's and 6 box's on the alternate toon. Make it 5 alternate toons and you have a whopping 1960 extra slots!!
Nothing but pure storage limited only by the type subscription you have, meaning the people with a Station Pass get up to 10 characters they can create (I think it is) and people without get 6 (I think it is).
This does not allow you to move items from your FreePort character to a alternate in Qeynos so remember that the alternate you created that is FreePort based (tells you this info. when your making your character) will only have access to items from a FreePort shared bank.
Ok yes I know this is not new info. and has been like this since day one however it isn't posted anywhere on this forum that search could find. Also I have told about 10 people in game about this over the last few days to see if it was common knowledge and they were all excited to find this out so it doesn't appear it is 'common knowledge'.
So I am submitting this knowledge not as a Bug or Hack or anything but maybe as a guide for new members interested in crafting explaining how they can store more of their crafted items while waiting for space to free up on their merchants.
What you ask could drive me to giving up such INSANE information?
Well I am glad you asked, I am shooting for another account.
Secret: Easy farming lvls 53+ (Eq2 screenshots)
July 3rd, 2008Go to maj dul.. go to the COINS SOLO RING EVENT, you will see 4 groups of lvl 51-52 vv and vvv coin guards, kill them..
NOTE: STAY UNDER A TENT AT ALL TIMES OR SHA'IR WILL SEE AND PWN YOU!! YOU MUST STAY DIRECTLY UNDER A TENTOR BEHIND THE BUILDING!
once you kill them a ^ coin named will pop, kill him.. he will then drop a coin leg item worth 6g, 72s and some copper… 70% of the time after you kill the first ^ a mercenary ^ solo will spawn, kill him and he will drop a chest with item worth 4g+… all mobs you kill have a chance for MASTERS, i got one off everyone in there before.. EVEN THE PH's…rinse and repeat and you should get about 1p every hr and a half.. not too bad seeing the mobs are easy as hell, im a 60 warden and i pull all 4 grps and kill em easily with more than 30% power left (thx to fableds, prismatics, efretti boots, robe of invoker but still easy). hope you enjoy.. and to make sure noone steals your camp, do /petname _____iscampinghere… fill in the ____ with your toons name, once you cast it leave it by the middle… next to tree then do /petstay so it wont move when you go to broker or mender to sell your stuff, each mob u kill will also drop coin tokens… you can turn in for lots of faction.. each ring event gives you about one WHOLE stack of tokens. thanks for reading, hope you enjoy…
Very Good Xp Quest (Sony Station Everquest 2)
June 30th, 2008Not an exploit, but damm good exp imho.
Zone: Maj`Dul
Quest starter : A Tears Grifter
Reward About 4g with body drops averaged in.
4-7 faction coins that sell on my server for 70s-1g ea.
And the best part 3-4% exp per run (kills and quest exp.)
The only downside is about a 20 min lockout timer.
This is an easy solo run that takes about 4 min to finish.
Mobs scale with character lvl, so exp stays high.
Have fun
