General walkthrough for the mage archetype.
Mages are the nukers in eq2. They cast arcane spells at their enemies dealing massive damage. Mages usually have very light armor, as to make casting their spells easier. Mages get some very unique abilities later on the line as well as powerful classes and sub-classes. With all that being said lets get to the good stuff.
Mage Key Attribute: Intelligence
Mages will always don very light to medium armor giving them a low AC.
Mages get the following attribute bonuses:
+3 Agility, +2 Stamina, +5 Intelligence
Mage Combat Arts:

Lighting Burst
Level 3 - Use Time 2.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 2.0 - Power Cost 4 power.
Does instant magic damage to the target.
Static Pulse
Level 3 - Use Time 1.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 8.0 - Power Cost 5 power.
Magic damage over time, decreases Arcane (Magic/Mental/Divine) mitigation for the duration.
Magi's Shielding
Level 4 - Use Time 5.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 5.0 - Power Cost 4 power.
Increases Power pool, Health pool, and Armor Class (AC)(self only)
Arcane Bindings
Level 5 - Use Time 3.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 12.0 - Power Cost 4 health 50 power.
Prevents the target from moving.
Cure Arcane
Level 6 - Use Time 1.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 8.0 - Power Cost 12 power.
Cures Magic, Mental, and Divine ailments from the target group member. Curatives can fail if the relevant ailments are significantly more potent than the caster's ability.
Gift of the Magi
Level 7 - Use Time 3.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 4.0
Increases Power pool and Magic mitigation for all party members.
Storm of Lighting
Level 8 - Use Time 4.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 10.0 - Power Cost 22 power.
Does instant Magic damage to the target and surrounding encounter members within area of effect.
Dispel Arcane
Level 9 - Use Time 3.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 - Recast Time 6.0 - Power cost 2 power.
Dispels beneficial Magic spells from the target. Dispels can fail if the relevant augmentations are significantly more powerful than the caster's ability.
See Invisibility
Level 9 - Use Time 4.0 - Recovery Time 0.5 Recast Time 5.0 - Power Cost 21 power.
Allows you to see any being that is invisible including other players.
Arcane Augur
Instant use, no power cost, 10.0 recharge time.
Starts HO for Mages.
Mages are like I said the nuking archetype of eq2. If you enjoy sitting in the back casting spells on the orc and buffing your party then this class is for you. You will do insane damage give awesome buffs and just overall have a fun time playing one.
Mages use Arcane Augur to start your heroic opportunities (HO). They put in new ways to start HOs so new players could easily catch on. Once you use Arcane Augur the next attack will flash in your hot bar to use and will continue until you complete the HO.
In groups mages HO wheel symbols are as follows:
Wand
Lightning
Tome
Staff
Fire
Star
Mage's color is Red in the HO wheel.
