Complete Macros Combat Arts Spells List (EQ2 Crafting Macro)

Complete Guide to In game Macros

I’m the type of player that hates to type alot in group and especially in combat since I’m usually to busy healing everyone in my group to bang away at the keyboard. If you are like me then you’re gonna love this post. I’m going to try to demystify the art of text macros.

Step1: Click the EQ2 button
Step2: Select Socials then click on the Macros Tab
Step3: Click on an open macro slot by clicking on the "click to edit" text.
Step4: Give your macro a name and a cool icon for your hotkey bar
Step5: In the macro text box is where you will construct your macro

In creating your macro you can use a combination of commands and dynamic text strings. One of my old EQ favorite macros was: "Incoming (target) !"

See (http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=Newbie&message.id=18007) for a list of slash commands.

This is a list of dynamic text strings:

%t – name of current target
%r – race of currect target
%s – gender pronoun of current target – he, she, it
%g – gender of current target – male, female, neuter
%o – gender object of current target – him, her, it
%p – possesive noun of current target – his, her, its
%m – displays the name or your current target’s pet. If there is no pet then the word "pet" will be displayed.

These dynamic text strings are current as of 11/17/04

The neat thing about dynamic text strings is they are based on what you currently have targeted. So you can creat a sentance where the subject name can be changed to whatever you have targeted with out having to retype the sentance evertime you wish to say it.

To display the phrase "Incoming (target)! " to your group you would type into the macro text box "/g Incoming %t!"

Another useful addiont since the "Big Patch" in early January of 2005 is the addition of the /useability command

You can now use macros to trigger abilites or spells. In the macro you will need to use the slash command:
/useability <spell or skill name>

EX: /useability Pathfinding

You can also have multiple slash commands in a single macro by seperating each command with a space, semicolon, and another space. (" ; ").
You can have up to a maximum of 4 slash commands in a macro.
After the first slash command all subsequent commands do need the ‘/ ‘ (/g Look! ; /point).
However it is now possible to start your macro with the slash command /: to avoid having to use the ‘/ ‘ for each command.

EX: /: ; useability Arch Healing ; g %t has been healed

There is still no way to add in a defined pause to delay actions. Many players have pointed out it would be nice to have a macro:

/: ; gsay Starting HO in 5 seconds ; pause 5 ; useability Divine Providence ; useability Admonishing Smite

Laazarus has pointed out you might want to add in a buffing spell like Pathfinding or any spell with a moderate cast time to act as a delay. While this is not exactly what we had in mind for a pause it none the less will do until we can get a DEV to slip in a pause command.

One last tip. You can configure your hotkey bars to have two hotkeys pressed simultaneously. This can be handy for many differnt spell combinations as well as macro and spell combinations.

I hope this helps everyone create a better playing experience and remember the goal is not to all sound like a bunch of robots with preprogrammed phrases, but macroing is useful for automating commands when you just can’t type fast enough.

All "/" commnads

All Spells/Abilities by Class

BTW to link "/" commands in a macro you need to seperate by a semi colon and spaces on each side….also the second and all consecutive commands will not need the "/". for instance:

/bow ; say goodbye %T nice to meet you ; wave

Will make your character bow, then say "goodbye then will wave…….

Anyway hope that helps some people!!!!!

One Response to Complete Macros Combat Arts Spells List (EQ2 Crafting Macro)

  1. Senergy says:

Okay, some of the things stated here don’t work. I tried doing a macro pause by casting a spell that took 3.81 seconds to cast (best I could do as a warlock with speed casting) and it didn’t work. The line code I used was:

/target Factor Kai Ferdinand (spelled correctly and works on its own)
/useability Bestow Energy (also Magi’s Shielding)
    /hail

This didn’t fail to target the NPC and the Ability went off like clockwork, but it was all instantaneous so I inevitably hailed whatever I had targeted or nothing at all.

Additionally, I tried the instructions for making a complex emote, and it didn’t work either. I did the exact one listed and it didn’t work with

/bow ; say goodbye %T nice to meet you ; wave
    or
/heart ; say I’m coming to see you Elizabeth! ; laugh

Just an FYI, maybe they are broken on the Mistmoore Server…Who knows?
