Great Solo Exp And Items From 16-20 (EQ2 Money)
January 17th, 2007Vermin Snye!
Most people are probably new to this zone, because I rarely see any lower levels in there. I ventured down there as a lvl 17 crusader. I leveled in there, mostly solo, until level 20. This zone is full of double up arrow monsters that are great exp and is loaded with quests. All of the monsters that you will be fighting at these levels will have at least one quest associated with them, which means more exp and items.
First off, go to South Qeynos and visit Sage Indus Surion. You can purchase 3 books from him that will open up more quests in VS. The books and all the quests are listed here.

Get familiar with that site. It's one of the best sites out there for information about quests, items, and anything else you want to know about the game.
Now you've got those books, enter into VS. You can make it there from The Down Below, or from The Peat Bog. Once you get down there, talk to every NPC you can find because most of them have quests. Start off fighting the Grave Leeches, Giant Burrowers, and Rabid Shrillers. If you talked to Brother Garvis, after 10 burrowers and 20 leeches you will get the amulet of the prime healer which is a great neck item for your level.
At 18, most of those were greyed out and I moved from them to Ravenous cubes. If you come in fromt the down below entrance, you can find the cubes by following the hallway the leads out of there straight. There will be 2 passageways to the right before it deadends, take the second one. As soon as you turn right you should see a couple cubes. Just around the corner from there is a room full of cubes that spawn in groups, stay clear of them for now if you are solo. At level 18 I was able to kill the solo cubes very safely with no deaths or adds and got about 1pct exp per kill. There are 3 cubes in this hallway that are solo. This should keep you busy enough with med time between each fight. If you get a free second, you can kill some of the festering zombies and crumbling tomb guards that you passed on the way to the cubes. Those are soloable at 18 and are part of another quest. Whenever you complete any quests turn in quickly, you want to get to 19 as quick as possible so you can solo the room full of cubes. After you get to 19, the first set of cubes will grey out, and you can move into the cube room. There are 4 spawn points at the corners of the rooms. The spawn will all con green at your level, and the quantity will be either 1 double up arrow, 2 single up arrow, 3 or 4 regular. Each of these groups will give about .8pct-1pct exp per kill at level 19.
The cubes are kinda tricky. I soloed all of them with a crusader. I used Demo of Faith when necessary as ward. Tip, be extremely efficient with your power usage. It will keep you alive and get you tons more exp. I suggest to only use your ward when you need it. Fire off HO's as quickly as possible. Make sure to use the skills that take the lowest power. For your sword move in the HO, I suggest Faithful Swing (low power consumption plus small lifetap) and Righteous Anger (very very low power consumption, decent damage) then for your horn move use either taunt, inflame, or shout. I don't know how durable the other classes will be for fighting these mobs solo. My crusader had no bought armor, just a full set of quest items and had round 550AC.
I left VS at lvl 20 with a ton of loot. I killed the cubes from about 40 pct into level 18 till I dinged 20 and came out with 10+adepts, 40+pieces of armor to sell to vendors (worth between 3s and 6s apiece, and 30+ crafting books. After selling off all my items I had several extra gold and 3 adepts I could use. I would suggest it to anyone for good loot and exp because there's always only a few people here. Go solo if you can because the exp is good and you get all the loot to yourself. If you want a little better exp and want to quest faster, bring a friend or two. If you're going in there under level 16 recruit your help before you go down. You probably won't find any others your level in VS and the people you'll see in peat bog and down below will most likely be too low.
