I recently found out that you can have custom mp3′s instead of the boring old eq2 music, you can have custom songs for battles, zones, while your loading, while the game loads, etc…
i think this is badass because i can have like 5-6 different heavy metal songs for the game to choose from when i press attack, and i dont have to hear their annoying music anymore… i can have some cool techno for some zones, some rock for others… etc..
in your everquest ii directory there is a folder called /music, go in there and you will see all kinds of files, take a look at em.
in there there will be a /combat folder, go in there and you will see a bunch of files like Combat_Attack-Really Big 40s Lva.mp3 and so on, those files are random battle music, change them to whatever mp3′s you want, but make sure to rename your custom mp3 to the name of the file you are replacing.
you can do the same for /zones, also like the loading music or the music when you logon.
the bad thing is that eq2patcher will see that your files are a different size, and will redownload them, so what i do is make a identical coppy of the /music folder after i am done with it, put the copy somewhere else, and from then on load the game through everquest2.exe instead of eq2.exe
when you have to patch run the patcher, then copy your custom music folder over the one that eq2 redownloaded after it patched.
ps. you can actually turn the game on, and alt tab to your desktop, and switch files like that, eq2 will automatically play your new file instead of the one it was playing.
this takes a little bit of time, but is much nicer than the same mind numbing crap over and over again… trance sounds so much better in RunnyEye than that crap they loop over and over in there…
