Leveling Level 10-20 Freeport Commanlands (Everquest 2 Online)

January 31st, 2007

Today, I will be guiding you through level 10-20, these can be very hard and slow levels but if you goto the right areas it will breeze by in no time!

Ok, So you just got level ten and your wanting to flex this "newbie" muscles with your new skills. If you have not already completed ALL of the easy delivery style quests in the poor sections of Freeport I suggest you doing them before continuing, they are VERY easy experience so for a nifty list of them, please head over to http://www.multiplayerstrategies.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=26988&categoryid=22

Ok, so if you have finished ALL of the quests listed in that nifty tutorial you should be level 11-12. Now, head to the mariners bell and click "Commanlands", This will take you to a barren wasteland that has some very powerful mobs that you should be very weary of.

Ok, now follow the road to the south, DO NOT ATTACK THE ORCS! Most of the orcs along the road are in groups of 3+ and are heroic level 11-12.

Now, you will walk to a T in the road, take a right or head west… Follow this road until you run into a nifty little town named "Crossroads" (No! Not "XR" or the "Crossroads" in WoW *smiles* This is a different game, you won't see any friendly orcs walking around here…).

Now, This small outpost will be your new "hub", when you get in to deep, always head this way and let the guards finish the job for you.

So, speak to every NPC in the city, even the guard to the northern gate. (I highly recommend doing this quest ASAP as it has great rewards here is the link for more info http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/quests/GuardNGarensUnrestwithSafiya.php )

After acquiring all of these new quests, be sure to complete the delivery style quests first than work on the harder killing quests. (Link to all of the quests available here http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/layouts/quests_results.php?perpage=200&p=1&zone_name=Commonlands&s=|recommended_level )

Ok, if you do as I said you should be around level 13 or so. *NOTE* You will not be able to do every quest in the region as of yet, just do what you can and the rest will come with time, do not go out and die 5 times for one quest… (I also recommend getting quests from the "Coalition of Tradesfolke" as they have great paying and xp giving quests for the Commanlands, they are located in West Freeport)

Ok, now run North West to the "Wailing Caves" and type " /LFG " This will equip your "Looking For Group" Tag and if any groups are looking for members they will more than likely invite you. Enter the cave and stay near the doors of the entrance, Do a /Shout *Insert Class name/level here* and hope for the best, if you are lucky enough to be in a guild ask them for assistance in WC.

Get the quest from the gnome on the rock and hopefully you already have the quest from Averus (I belive that was his name) in WFP and the "Coalition of Tradesfolke" quests aswell. *WARNING* This cave is very extreme for your low level of 12-14 so I would not recommend any form of trying to solo. This is a group oriented dungeon so do not be afraid to group.

From level 12-14 I recommend staying in a group and staying fairly close to the exit as the deeper you go the harder it does get!
So basically, just have a good time aimlessly killing these orc skeletons and the few orc scout spawns… If you have a 4+ person group and atleast two of the members are level 15+ than yes, you may venture further down but do so at your own risk.

From level 15-16 continue in here, be sure to keep advancing your West Freeport quests as they yield very nice rewards.
Now, that you are stronger I would recommend a group of level 16+ if you would like to the deepest bowels of this dungeon, I strongly suggest a healer of some kind and definatley a tank (If you are one of the two than grats, you will find a party easily =) )

Fight your way down the wall path that is elevated high and you only see orcs to fight. Take the first right and fight through these orcs, if you have a good party than these should be of no problem… If they are hard than I recommend finding a new party or sticking to were you have been.
Now, pretty soon you should see a door, have your party ready and open the door, you will get zerged by several heroic orcs. Again, if these kill one of your party members or if you struggle than I highly recommend you turning back now as it doesn't get any better.

Ok, after clearing out this room you should see a entrance were they were standing, it should be two doors like so
|_)(_| Open these doors and walk in, do not walk all the way down the stairs until you are ready to fight. First have your tank taunt the guards that are just to the left of the bottom of the stairs like so >|__ __|< They will be lining the walls right past the stairway…

Take them out, than make sure you are fully buffed and ready to take on the orc group ahead of you.

There should be a orc (Ambassador? I forgot his name) with 4 orcs in a square formation around him, If you have a enchanter mezz all of the orcs except the main Ambassador orc, as long as you have a good cleric any group should succeed here. After he drops, he will drop two keys for the door behind him, only one key is needed so two members may have keys. Open it up and slay the new and harder patrolling guards.

Now follow the halls and there should be a pathway lined with patrolling guards, about 4 normally that goes around a middle room. If you wish, you may enter the middle room and slay the guards inside, if you do so it will give you access to another room inside with a VERY tough 16++ boss, he is the cream and butter of this dungeon. I highly recommend atleast having a level 20 healer and a 18+ tank in the group to take him down.

After and if you kill him, the rest of the cave past this point is just various orcs, spiders and spectral essences.

After playing around down here for awhile you should be level 16-17, I highly recommend checking your broker for collection quest items to assist you in leveling, the shards collection quests are especially cheap and some gave me 10% xp each at level 18.

For level 17, I recommend going to Fallen Gate with a group or going to nektulos forest with a friend. My level 20 SK friend and myself at the time a 17 sorceress leveled fairly quickly from the zombies just past the first bridge there, they are VERY weak for some odd reason regardless of them being level 21-23.

So, for level 18-20 I HIGHLY recommend Fallen Gate, at 18 with vitality I would sometimes get 4% experience per mob.

Finish your archetype quests and a early congrats or Junisol in Dark Elf.
